Climate:
Climate in Goa is generally temperate, except during the monsoon which starts
from June and lasts in September.
The average temperature varies between 25°C - 30°C (67.96F - 81.56F
Approx). The average rainfall is approximately 325cms, the average daily hours
of sunshine is nine to ten hours in summer and three to five hours during the
monsoon.
The best time to visit Goa beaches is from October through February during
which the skies is clear and the weather is warm.
Shopping:
Apart from basking and lulling in the sun, another favorite activity in Goa
that you can enjoy is shopping. Goa offers incredible shopping opportunities
varying from the top-notch department stores and designer boutiques to a riot of
stalls at local markets. Some of the most popular local markets are the Anjuna
Flea market, the Mapusa Friday market, and the new market of Margao. A wide
array of goods ranging from fine local handicrafts, clothes, and fresh vegetable
and fruit can be found at the markets.
Cuisine:
Goa is famed for its sea food. It is good to try the vindaloo, classic
sorpotel and local red wine.
Festival:
Among the many and various colorful feasts and festivals that are celebrated
in Goa, the Goa Carnaval is the most eagerly awaited event. The 'Carnaval' is
exclusive and unique to Goa, and was introduced by the Portuguese who ruled over
Goa for over five hundred years. The carnival is held in February for three days
and nights with colorful festivities. The festival attracts not only the Goans
but also people from all over the country.
